Rose, I am going to adorn my new aquarium w/Lava rock, slate and driftwood. Do you foresee any problems with live plants using these materials?

I will not be planting all that much, just some of the following (all comes in a package deal):
Oriental Sword
Purple Caboma
Wisteria
Java Fern
Rotala Indica
Scarlet Hygro
Dwarf Sag

Also, is there a good place to get some interesting driftwood retail?

Thanks :ninja:

I'm assuming by Mid West you are in the states. If you are I can give you a few links to places that I have done buisness with or have heard good reports about. If your not in the states can't help much.

I get most if not all my tank stuff from Big Al's. They have drift wood and I hear it's nice stuff.

I got some drift wood from Aquarium Driftwood. I didn't have to soak it to get the tanis out or put a base on it to keep it from floating. The wood is a real nice piece and the fish love it. Got plants from them too. Not wild about the plants but the wood I love.

I got a majority of my plants from Pets Wherehouse. Yes they are the ones with the lawsuit but they have some damn nice looking plants.

You can also look at Aquabid for plants as well as E-Bay.

I'm told that Anchor Bay Aquarium has good plants.

Your plants will and should do well in your tank. Remember to take your time stocking it with fish. Let the plants have some time to adjust and get a start on growing in your tank before you add too many fish. Enjoy. Rose

:D Rose, thank you much for the links and tips! I will check these out and follow your advice. Thanks again! :ninja:

Rose, just checked out Aquarium Driftwood link...THANKS!! Definately is what I was looking for. Apparently, they have entire decorating kit for my size tank, driftwood and all! (Oh yea, I am in the states, STL MO to be exact)

Question, how long should I let my 75g tank cycle prior to putting in the plants? Looks like all the researce says you should do right away. Also, what type of grow lights do you recommend based on the plants I mentioned earlier? Seems like most of the fish I am interested in like medium to bright light.

Thx :alien:

2-3 watts (per gallon is where you want to start with lighting). You can put the plants and driftwood in when ever you want. I put mine in the same day I put the tank up. Rose

Rose, how many tanks you got? and you got a link to pics? - see if I can get some ideas ;)

nice pics Rose  - now I want a digi cam too lol.

Thanks! I love my digital camera. Truth be known those some really bad pics of my tanks. I'm working on getting some better pics and close ups of the plants I do have. Rose :S
