Hi, i bought a piece of bog wood/mangrove root wood for my tank today THIS ONE and was wondering whether it is the same as normal Bog wood when it comes to releasing tannins? I was thinking i wont have anything big enough to soak it in (other then my tank) for it to become water logged let alone soak it to get rid of the tannins! Does anybody have this type of wood in their tank? I'm thinking of attaching something from the Java family to it eventually.

Regards

Nice wood, its not bog wood so it wont release any noticeable tannins into the tank. You can just give it a wash and weigh it down in your tank until its water logged. Java fern, moss or anubias can be attached to it.

I had something very similar, but it was called Redmoor Wood - I soaked it in the bath (should of seen hubby's face, lol), but as Liam said it didn't release much in the way of tannins, did help it to begin the sinking process though.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to hear it won't be as bad when it comes to tannins because of only just rid my tank of them with the existing bogwood i have in my tank! I think ill give it a good wash and weigh it down with some slate or something.
