Root Tabs And Ferts - Good Or Bad Idea?

Am i okay to use these together? Is it possible to overfertilize my tanks? Ive got fish in there too and dont want to harm them by accident. I currently fertilize with liquid ferts once a week, and just stuck a couple of root tabs in (how often do these need replacing btw?).

Ive got a 20g tank and use a tetratec ex700 filter.

the tabs need replacing every few months.

it is ok using both together. You can overfertilise tanks but it is highly unlikely you will.
