Since im spending time dosing ferts and getting co2, i figured i may as well find out if i need root tablets as i just have sand as i didnt think to put anything good for plants then cap it with sand.

So, how do i use them and is there a particular brand thats the best?

And would only certain plants need them?

I have,

Vallis
Amazon swords
cryptocoryne wendtii
and will have some HC cuba to try my luck with soon

Worth buying some?

Swords are heavy root feeders so definitely some for the swords. It was suggested to me to use tabs for the wendtii as well. vals and HC, I dont know.. I have flourite and still used tabs for swords and crypt.

Brand.. I'm not sure. But I placed mine directly next to the sword and one for a few crypts.

as long as you dose the water column heavy enough then there is no need for root tabs. Any plant can take nutrients through the roots for leaves. It is true that swords have a preference foe taking nutrients throug the roots, but it isnt always necasary.
If you do get them, then place them thoughout the whole substrate, or if any plants have nnbutrient defficiencies, then you can target feed them (or raise the amount you dose in the water column)

API and tropica capsules are the best.
