This is a photo of my Rio 125. (50Hx81Lx36D cms)

At the moment its home to:
20x Cardinal Tetra
4x Black Neon Tetra
6x Panda Corydoras
3x Apisto Agassizi

I would really love to add a "feature" fish such as small Angels, do you think I could squeeze two in?

The Tetra that I have are all pretty large, so I am not overly worried about them being eaten by small juvenile Angels, it really is just a question of space.

Or, can anyone suggest an alternative to Angels?

I would say you could add 2. But they wont stay juvenile for long, they will grow into good sized fish. I would say add 2 angels, and then nothing else, and keep up with good w/c and you should be fine.

I would agree with kribensis, I think two juveniles will be alright. The only thing I might be a little afraid of is once the angels grow to their adult size they might start seeing your tetras as food.

The Angels that I have my eye on, are no more than 1.5" so plenty of growing to do yet.

I must admit that I did have two very large Angels a couple of years ago in with a large school of about 50 Cardinals and had no problems at all, until I introduced some Serpae Tetra, and then all hell broke loose...

I was wondering if maybe I was just lucky with those Angels, but I'll keep a close eye on the new ones when I get them... :good:

That's a really stunning little tank you've got there :good:

Personally, in that size of tank, I'd avoid Angels. I would look at keeping one of the following fishes - all of which would make an excellent centre piece in your tank, even if they're not that large.

Have tried to provide links where possible.. apologies that they're all from the same website (some of my pics are up there in the profiles :))

@Duncs - Thanks for taking such an effort in your reply, but I do already have a trio of Apisto Agassizi.
Thats why I was asking if it would be ok to add another "feature" fish into the mix.

I have been advised that I could house another fish as long as it wasn't a similar body shape/size to the Apisto, thats why I thought of Angels.

I really like those Dicrossus though...

Lol what a numpty I am  I should really read threads first

Sorry man :) Yeah the Dicrossus are probably one of my favourite fish. I had maculatus and managed to spawn them.. the eggs didn't hatch for a while until I managed to get the pH to just below 5.. and when they did hatch, it was two or three days before a three week holiday to Singapore. Came back to find the fry gone and the mother battered..

Numpty-isms aside, is that a yes or a no to any other additions to my aquarium...

It's high enough for Angels.. and probably a reasonable width for a pair of adults.

Are the aggies a breeding trio, one male and two fems? I'm worried that they might cause problems if they start breeding, especially towards juvi Angels.

The Apistos are not a breeding trio yet.
I think they are quite young themselves, but I guess thats always likely in the future.

I suppose it depends what you want to do then bud.

If you're interested in breeding the Aggies, putting the Angels in won't be the best idea. If you're not too fussed about the Aggies then I'm sure the Angels could hold their own, especially if your Aggies are still small. Now would be the ideal time to do it.

you could have 2 angels in there coz your tank seams big tell me the size and ill think and say
i think you can put 2 in but its best to check

hope you get some (there my fav fish)

it says the size of the tank in the first sentence!! it's a rio 125, so 125l

the minimum height you should keep angels in is 45cm, this tank is 50cm high so it's tall enoughand usually the minimum volume is around 30gals, this is just over that. so talking purley in space terms then yes you can have a pair of angels, and I think they would make a lovely addition, get the natural coloured silver banded ones, they'd look really nice in there :D

quite similar stocking to my tank, ours is about twice the size but also got cardinals, dwarf cichlids and soon to add angels, it's planted as well but not looking as good as yours! :D
