Which are the best and safest rocks to use in a tropical aquarium. A friend was on the internet...and he basically came to the conclusion that any rock that doesnt foam in vinegar is safe for an aquarium.
 
It's not that a rock that fizzes is bad for an aquarium, it's just that it will raise the ph, which may or may not be desirable depending on the fish you keep.

Anything that looks rusty is out, definately. You do not want metal in your tank.
 
2 ways to prepare a rock for your aquarium... put it in the oven for a while and let it cook its self... OR boil it for a bit... either will kill anything that may be in some small crevas on it
