Here is a plastic rock decor that my nana got for me recently. It also doubles as a air stone. So it will bubble and airate the tank:

I plan on having the following:
4 angel fish
1 senegal bichir
2 bristlenosed plecos
1 red tailed shark
2 firemouths

I don't recommend the firemouths with Angels, I tried it once... the Firemouth cichlids killed my angels :(

as for if the rocks will be fine, it's really hard to say unless you know what they're made of, a test is to pour some white vinager on to each rock, if it fizzes it's not safe to use.

I have tried the vinegar test and they are fine. Now the only question is if the plastic rock will look too tacky...

I don't think it'd look to tacky, I saw that rock and it drew my attention in 100%! looks awsome I'd definatly use it if I was you :)

Thanks! I think it will look good then. It will look nice when the tank is all set up and it has bubbles and everything. :)
Also when it gets wet it gets great colors like blues and some red.

Also I am scratching the firemouths off my list. Thanks for that tip!

Thanks. I am thinking about finding more. I dont think those four will be enough for a 55 gallon.

Well i wouldnt add them if i were you.
They could release calcium into the water, causing it to become acidic.

The fake rock doesn't look tacky, but it would give it the impression of being more real if you had moss growing on it .

That combined with the bubbles would give me the impression of an underwater volcanic vent, which I think would be awesome :).

I have found another rock for my new tank! My Nana's neighbor's dog always comes to her house and she loves to pick up rocks so she gave me one! It was so sweet. I think of it has a Birthday present for my b-day tomorrow! I'll post picks in a sec.

Hints the vinegar test my friend, if the rocks fizz, they're unsafe, if they don't fizz they're safe...

And no problem for the tip about the Firemouths halfblood, hope the tank comes together perfectly for you, what kind of substrate are you thinking of going with?? Personally I'd say sand, as with the rock it'd give a more natural theme type look :)
