so , ive placed some slate to make a cave for my kribs in the 20gal. nothing too heavy , but one of the smaller pieces is kind of leaning on the glass . is this dangerous , could it create cracks etc?

thanks ,

FR

i have rocks tthat rest on the back glass and they are fine. as long as they are secure in place shouldnt be a problem

I probably wouldnt do it unless its totally necessary.

I would think that over time, the slight vibrations from the filter and air-stone may be enought to let the rock crack the glass....

Is it like a jagged rock, or smooth?

How many gallons is the tank and how havy is the rock/s roughly? I wouldn't personally advise it, i think it most cases it is safe, but you risk scratching the tank or the rocks vibrating on the tank side or becomming dislodged and falling over etc.
It depends if you want to take the risk i guess- i used to do it and never had any issues, but i have heard stories from other not-so-lucky fish keepers who've had their tanks crack when the rock feel over or put too much pressure on the tank sides.

I was going to lean rocks on myn but i wasn't sure if it would crack the glass...
