Hello,

So I got my rock shrimp about a week ago ish and I saw them in my tank on the day and the day after, now I cant see them at all and I have tried moving things in my tank but still cant find them, have they got out of my tank? i cant see them.

Also I have seen about 3 days ago that I have baby plecos in my tank and I know there should be about 20 ish but can only see 3 have they been eaten by the shrimp maybe? As I have looked under everything I have and can still only see 3 (only 1 or 2 now)

I feel as if everything is going wrong as I have some nitrite or nitrate im not sure what one it is but I keep testing my water and I cant get it to go down, I have not give my fish any food for about a week now.

Please help me I just don’t know!!

Many Thanks Eigdoog

Shrimp do hide, but yes if they can get out the tank they do as I found out

As for baby plecs....I have never had them so dont know, how big are they ?

The most important thing is to get the water sorted out, ammonia, Nitrite levels will kill fry quicker than anything.
Start doing 10-15% water changes, then re-check the water after an hour, if they are still high, keep changing until you have NO nitrite or ammonia. After that, keep an eye on it for a few days, checking every morning and night.

Can you put a net divider in the tank to keep the shrimp away from the babys ?

Also forgot to say, normally fry have a really quick metabolism and there for need feeding more than adult fish. Not feeding for a week I would have thought would be bad for them. Maybe cut down to a few feeds a day but as I said, never had plec babys before so I might be talking horse poo :hyper:

You need to find out if its Nitrite or Nitrate. Nitrate is harmless and you can continue feeding your fish!
