Hi all!

So today I decided to add the rocks I've gathered over the last couple of weeks to the tank. These will have to come out again by the end of the week as we are decorating an the tank will be moved but thought it would be good to try mapping out some possible rock scapes.

For a designer by profession I dont have much of an imagination for rock work in aquariums so any advice would be appreciated.

I will be keeping Ps. Saulosi Cichlids so obviously alot of rock work was needed and I won't be adding plants.

Here is how it stands now.

Any ideas???

EDIT!!!

Just had a small rework, which is better and how can I improve further?

My advice is to stick to one type of rock and not mix different types.

Understand what your saying. Ocean rock is just a little hard to get around here at the moment as well as expensive. I think once I put a black background on the tank add the fish and find a way to arrange the rocks it can look interesting.

I think that would be a bit boring!

I like the edit. One thing I like to do is group the smallest stones together, but that's just me (I'm a designer, too).

Looks great!
Dont matter what we think. If you like then thats cool.

That rock with the holes is nice!
I take it thats where your fish will take refuge?
The filter intake is behind it. Difficult to tell how close they are to each other in the photo. I would take into consideration the effect of the suction of the intake. Might be just what they like.

Looks good. Note that one thing you can do with a spraybar is put it just barely below the surface such that you see little streams of water moving from back to front of tank. With the Eheim you can put your fingers over the back of the tank edge and use both thumbs to adjust the two black suction cups up or down with slow pressure and follow the water surface every few days and lower the water noises.
