Hi Can somebody tell me if it is safe to mix roach with tropical fish
ive only got a few fish like 1x clown loach 1x angel fish 1x neon.
Can i put 2 roach in with these my tank is 4ft square cold water.

bad idea mate
roach are outdoor fish and suited to a cooler climate were as your tropicals
like the warm water,
plus roach are a fish that like a lot of open space and a 4ft tank is way to small

bang um in a big pond

macky :D

Where are you getting these Roach from?

I would say NO! As already said Roach are designed for a cooler climate and higher tropical temperatures will affect their body system, including metabolic rate etc. They are best kept in a pond designed for native fish species.

thought roach was on that whatsit list as a no no for ponds and tanks ?
Why? For certain tanks they may grow to big as they are a large shoaling fish but for native fish themed ponds there is no problem. But I wouldn't advise mixing them with Koi etc as Roach are most likely wild caught and carry parasites etc.

hmm open seasons just started on my fave lake so ill be off fishing soon, but i know they frown on removing the fish there ,perch tench roach etc,im hoping to bag a pike this year :flex: not for the pond

If I catch a pike that is only 2ft long can I keep it in a 3ft tank????????? :p

May I ask, why are your tropical fish in a 'coldwater' tank???

Matt
