Ro Water

Ok so I am really fed-up of traipsing to my LFS for RO water for my fish.

I have been looking at RO units on amazon.co.uk and I realised I am completely confused about the whole thing.
Family say a unit could be my Christmas present

if i want it but I have no idea how to install it or what to do.

Do you have to use any kind of aquasafe on the water once it has come out or not? Do i need to use anything on it?
Should i de-chlorinate the water anyway to be safe or will this overdose and cause problems?

My cousin uses RO water at his workplace which he could get for me for real cheap (not a fish/pet store).
Would that be ok to use or would i have to do anything to the water e.g. de-chlorinate it??

Not got one my self but brother in law does, Easy to install. You will need to change filters every six months or so, The water you get out is ready to use when heated, and you will need to add mineral back in the water with liquid or tablet. Sorry that's all I know.

i got one about a half a year back and it is still working perfectly. I got the 60 gallon per day AquaticLife Reverse Osmosis Unit and it fills up a 32 gl barrel over night. You don't have to add DE-chlorination but you do have to add mineral supplements for your fish and plants if you have a planted tank. When i started to use R/O water my algae disappeared and the plant growth took off. My fish looked a lot better and the water is crystal clear. I would say get one and it will be worth it.please let me know if i forgot to answer any of your questions.

Like you, my only real worry is the setup and maintenance. Don't know if I have the patience! My mind and plumbing information, do not mix!!

The only question you guys didn't answer is about her cousin. Can she use the water from his work in the mean time? I am also interested in this, I work at a place that could give me my own RO Water so it could be an option for me too

Thanks. I really do need my water softer atm and I am not planning on going all the way back to my only LFS that store RO
Anyone else have any opinions on my cousins RO water? My only worry is hat they put in it at the work or what minerals they don't! Also who knows what they have washed the containers with! It could damage my tank and harm my fish right?
Not sure what to do.

So what (on the cheaper side) RO units do you guys recommend? Where can I get it, I am in Leicestershire UK.
Any most importantly!

are there really good instructions
