Hi, been reading as much as I can about RO units as I'm thinking of getting one for my discus, but can't find this info anywhere.

I don't need that much (about 10 gallons a week) and while I know I could get it from lfs, it's so expensive an RO unit would pay for itself within 4 months.

So my question is could I run the RO unit for a few hours once a week and store it in between, or would this damage it somehow?

Any answers much appreciated.

I use my RO unit about once a week to produce 25 - 50litres. For the rest of the week it sits under the sink. All you need to do is make sure you turn the switch on the front to flush the unit before you use it to produce your RO water. I dont see anything wrong with your plan

Should be fine :good: I use mine about once a month and flush it for about 20 minutes before I start collecting the RO everytime I make some

Hi,

thanks for asking that question I was also wondering that as well. I'll be needing abit more than you, but not enough to keep it going all the time.

:good:

I use mine non-stop with a 3 gallon storage tank attached. When the tank fills up, the water stops flowing. It is drinking water in the kitchen and I steal some of it when I want RO for the fish. The water it makes is like having bottled water for all drinking water. It makes great coffe or tea and tastes much better fresh than the regular tap water.
