I have one because i bought fish from north england where the water is softer. i mix 5050 RO water with tap

An RO does not make water changes easier, it makes it more difficult. An RO removes basically all minerals, so a water change using RO only means that you need to add the minerals back in for fish health. Whitey is using an RO and mixing in 50% tap water to avoid having mineral free water. You can also buy chemicals to add depending on which fish you keep to make RO water acceptable. One such brand is called RO Right. Another complication of using RO is that it is produced very slowly. That means you will end up with a number of jugs sitting around while you accumulate enough RO for the mix you use in your water change, just ask Whitey_144 how many bottles he fills before starting a water change. The only use I have found in my fish room for RO is that it is mineral free so I can top up a tank with it between water changes. Mostly my RO is used for drinking water and for making tea and coffee.
