Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone can give me some advice on which of these RO units I should buy.

I have a couple of tanks which I change approximately 100 liters of water each month per tank.

I currently purchase the RO from my LFS. It's getting quite expensive so I thought it'd work out cheaper in the long run if I just bought the kit myself. I figure I can get my money back after about 8 months, depending on what other equipment I'll need. Which brings me to my second point: What else do I need? TDS meter? Stop taps? Could anyone please advise?

Many thanks.

My own RO is set up to provide drinking water in my kitchen sink so it also needs a storage container for the purified water. That is accomplished with a low pressure tank that then can be tapped using an extra faucet when I want to fill a kettle. My tank is rated for a 3 gallon volume and allows me to draw on about 2 1/2 gallons of water whenever I want to. These do not seem to include any form of storage so you would be making water as you use it. That means a long time to refill a tank or making lots of water in advance so that you can do a water change. A 100 GPD RO will do well to produce 2 gallons an hour so you can imagine what that would look like if you are doing a water change that requires 10 gallons. I know that 100 GPD is 4 gallons an hour but the ratings on RO membranes are based on ideal conditions of water temperature and water supply pressure. None of us in the real world have such conditions and about half the advertised capacity is what you can expect. It is handy to have a system with an automatic shutoff and the pressurized storage tank so that you don't end up wasting as much water. If you are going to use the RO manually, a shutoff is essential since you will need to use it to fill your water change container.
