Hi

I have got a 150 gal Brackish Tank the salinity is about 1.0010/12. I bought a RO Filter because my tap water has a nitrate of about 40mg/l. The Questions I have got is how to heat up the water to go into the tank? Someone said to heat the water with a spare aquarium Heater. The problem with that is doing a water change on a 150 gal that would take forever. My Husband suggested heating the RO Water in a plastic kettle. Would heating the RO Water in a kettle do anything to the water?

Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sabby

If your using an RO unit to make your FW, how are you adding salt afterwards? Shouldnt you be able to use the same container to warm the water? If it were me, id use several large tubs (say 30L+ each), fill to the right SG, all on the same day and store. Id only then have to heat a single one when neccessary. I do this now with NSW, I collect, leave it stored, heat/aerate when neccessary and add (mind you, I dot have 150g's, but you get the idea from my example! :p )

Hi Mr Miagi

I think the advantage you have is that you live in a hot country. I have several containers holding 30gal. I fill these up and let them stand at room temperature. But the water will not reach the right temperature to put straight into my tank, and to use heaters takes forever.

Thanks
