River Wood

Hi im doin a pleco set up soon, n while I was walking along a river one day I saw a few tree branches that must have been "trimmed" and left there. What I want to know is this wood safe for my tank and my plecos who may occationally munch on it, if so any chemical effects and how would I prepare it for the aquarium ?

make sure it is dead & dry. It must be solid (no softness)

Soak it in miltons sterilising fluid for a few days. Then change to freshwater and soak it for at least another week (or longer if any tannins are leaking)
