River rocks

I would like to add some river rocks to my tank. I'm going to boil them first. Is this type of rock safe for aquriums?

Before boiling, test them with a bit of vinegar. If they fizz, they are no good, they will affect your ph. No fizz means they should be ok. Boiling is fine if they are small enough to fit in a large pot. I put larger ones in a bucket of water with some bleach, let them soak for a while, then rinse a couple of times with water with double the dechlor. Never had a problem with either method.

I'm adding enough to fit in a big pot. I tried the vinegar test and they didn't fizz.
