I went off to do other things around the house and he went up the tube. I swear I had it sunk into the gravel... I feel like the worst fishkeeper. :-(

Baby boy when I got him.

Recent pic. There's no way I'll get another, I think.

He was a pretty boy, so sorry you've lost him.

Accidents happen, they like to have a nose at things so I wouldn't blame yourself. Give yourself a little time you may find you would like a new betta.

{{hugs}}

Oh I'm so sorry you lost him. He was a very pretty boy.
You shouldn't blame yourself though, one of my betta girls has gotten herself stuck in the CO2 bubbler twice now, 2nd time I was afraid she wasn't going to make it. Not your fault at all that our bettas are too curious for their own good.

Anywho ***HUGS***

sorry for your loss :( its definitely not your fault accidents happen. i thought the same thing when bob died i had him for nearly two years and he died in a sort of freak accident and i didnt want bettas after him either but a few months later i got another one, i figured i had a nice tank setup and i wasnt gonna leave it there empty when i could buy a betta that was just sitting at the store in a little cup waiting to have a nice home. but it does take a while to get over especially if you feel guilty :(

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I was really attached to him; I've never cried over a fish loss before.

im sorry you lost him but i dnt think your 100% to blame there curious lil blighters

sorry for your loss the same thing happend to me once! i swear i had the gravel vac! and my betta just flew up it and got stuck! i ran cut open the pipe got it open lived for about 2-5 days but didnt make it!

Rip "big red" hopefully theyre in the big bubblenest in the sky :blush:

Aww, I'm sorry. I never cried so much when a fish died either until my little red female betta, Susan, somehow managed to swim against the current of the filter, find the only little spot open on the hood, and jump at least 2 inches high to go up and over the hood to her death. I felt so bad...

Cheer up, sometimes I think these guys are so smart, sometimes I think they're just too curious for their own good.

Thanks for the additional well wishes. I buried him in my rock garden today under my biggest boulder and I'm actually feeling slightly better now. I would have never have guessed how much effect this would have on me.
