Changed the water in my 2.5 Gallon last night. Nothing different than normal. Woke up this morning to every single one dead.

Any reasons so I can Prevent in the future?

you use tap water?

if so then you didn't treat it... if you did treat it then what are the stats of the water.

how much water did you change?

if the temperature of the water was very different from the tank, and if you change a very large amount then the temperature difference could have shocked them... stressed and killed.

how long was the tank set up?

details man we need details xD

Water was treated, water was heated to same temp (using spare heater) before adding.

Tank has been set up nearly 4 months without glitch.

Stats...Not checked

could be something with the stats... get that checked.

oh and when changing the water, if you cleaned the filter with tap water that killed all of the good bacteria and then caused a chain reaction and boom death..

how much water was changed?
25%...50%...75%?

Aw, very sorry for your loss :(

Hopefully you figure out what went wrong so nothing like this happens again! Best of luck!

Perhaps the tap water had NH3/NO2/Cl in it, as some water facilities add more after a rain or other weather conditions. If there is, you can try a little bit of overdosing the dechlor before adding the water. Prime say's its OK up until a certain extent.

Good luck!

Could there have been pipe works in your area that might have affected water quality?

Could the water have become contaminated with something, either dripped into the tank, or even maybe you cleaned your tap and it came off into the new water you added.

Found out the problem... Mum used my bucket... To clean bath with Bleach!!

Oh my gosh noooooooooooo! That is so unfortunate I am so sorry. D: Time to buy a new bucket and hide it from her!

oh my goodness, sorry for you loss, i hope your mum has learnt from her mistake, maybe you could ask her to replace them for you

Oh no! That is why I have 2 buckets and 1 container. I hide my clean water container so nothing goes in it.

They are not all dead

I noticed something moving last night in corner of my eye so switched the light on....

3 full grown shrimp (possibly the sakura that were in there) and 9 tiny baby cherrys.

Well chuffed

I know what I would do "Serve up the shrimps between two slices of bread for her tea"
