He was fine yesterday and swimming. Put the melafix in he died the next day. =[

maybe he was already going but yesterday he was swimming and acting fine (aside from his hurt tail) now hes dead =[

Ya sadly so I guess =[. Is it possible the melafix treatment somehow stressed him? or do u think he would have went down regardless just a matter of time?

Melafix is a great medication... unfortunately, it also impairs the fish's ability to get oxygen out of the water. It isn't a good idea unless your water is highly saturated with oxygen, or you use below the recommended dose. It is especially potent in small aquariums. Sorry for your loss.

If you have to add meds to the tank always run an airstone for extra aeration.

I have had poorly platies for 3-4 weeks.....I go to euthanase them and they start acting normal...eating, socialising etc. Then they up and die on me
