Rio 400 Heating Advice?

the tank came with the usual 300W heater, now i am going to put 2 heaters in it but i have the 300W and i also have a spare 150W from a previous tank that i didnt use. my question is can i use a 300 and a 150 or would it be better to just buy another 300 and keep them the same so they have to same work rate?

You could set the 300W slightly higher then the 150, then the 150 would only be used if need be. If you want two heaters to share the load then best to buy same models. This is bevause what you set the temp too isn't always what the temperature actually is, if you catch my drift.

Agreed with above, on my 475L tank i have a 300W heater set at 24C and a 200W heater set at 22C as a backup,
however atm and for most of the summer the 200W has been unplugged as the room temperature is keeping the tank stable and the 300W itself is barely being used.
