Just upgraded my tank to a rio 300. Have just noticed that the brace bar has been taken off as I just found it in a bag with lots of other bits lol i know i know...

Anyway it has two slots either end, does anyone know how to put this back into place, have drained the tank to about 5 inches lower than normal to avoid any stress. Although the guy I bought it from had it like this for years, I dont think I could sleep with no brace bar.

Any help appreciated, if you need a pic lemme know

Cheers

Hopefully some member who knows your tank will come along. I'm sure you're asking because it is not clear in some way.

On the other hand it is confusing to me why it would not be clear. Surely if there is a brace bar made for the tank which has slots at its ends then there must be some sort of pegs or nubs on the upper frame bars in the center that marry to the brace bar slots?

One thing I would think would be generally true would be that it certainly would not hurt and might be a really good move to have a much larger percentage of water out of the tank when actually doing it. It only takes pretty small movements to cause cracks and of course you'd want to have your buckets and draining equipment handy when adding the brace (which hopefully would ward off the cracks just as an umbrella keeps away the rain  )

I believe this is an older one, i have compared it to my rio 180 but thats no help as the bracing is built in in that one

On mine there is a lip on the rim on the inside of the tank, the brace bar seems to line up with this pretty well, maybe i could just silicone it in place once lined up?

At the end of the brace bar it should hook under The lip and then glue in I siliconed(glued) mine in :good:

I suppose i will need aquarium
Safe silicone for this? Or what about superglue, the water wont actually come in contact with it as im run my water level about 3 inches lower than the brace.

In the middle where it attaches i think i have found evidence of left over silicone lol why would you take a brce bar off a 350 litre tank?!

I have used normal super glue in tank with water and fish with no problems

Might have be taken off to use a HOB filter

Lol maybe, but its across the middle with 20 inches either side for space for a HOB

Thanks for your help guys

Just a quick update, i drained the tank to about 8 inches and re-attached the brace bar, it fitted snug and i superglued in the slits. Its now re-filled and it seems to be holding up and has lessened the slight bow.

Cheers
