Even if the ammonia reading is false because it has been treated with Ammo-Lock, it would still let someone know how fast it is building and rising. Even with large fish that produce lots of waste, you should not see an increase so large that you need to do 90% WCs daily to keep it down. I strongly suspect that you have filtration problems, most likely with the UGFs, that are keeping it so high.
In any case, I hope you get the help you need here to treat and save Riley although it soesn't sound good. Good luck.
hi sharon how are ya?
hopefully this new thread will help you get some answers at last

Hi Sharon
I have just read the other post and i am really sorry for how you have been treated buy the obvious Forum Bullies who would rather have a rant than help someone like you who has come to ask for help! (Its not the first time they have done it and prob wont be the last!)
The best thing to do with them is ignore there usless posts and dont give them the satisfaction of fighting back. (Very hard i know)
Anyway i really hope the help you are getting now is working.
Please keep us updated.
Good Luck

Sharon I am so sorry for the abuse you have received. i know how it feels when a beloved fish is illIgnore the bullies, leave them to sit there feeling all superior, it is the only chance they get to feel good I think. Sad but true. Anyway, the important thing is Riley. I am glad he sounds a little better, but I do think if he takes a turn for the worse then you should euthanize him. terrible I know but you are obviously really hurting watching him suffer. Though I do have my fingers crossed for a miracle for you.
oh excellent sharon, i am so pleased that he is recovering.
can you let us know what the ammonia reading is in the tank right now, i appreciate that it's a false reading from the ammo-lock but it will still help us to understand the situation.![]()
