I think I have cracked it. My mom is slightly giving it about getting or letting me having a betta. Well this is what I was going to do...

I have a 4 Gallon tank - this should be alright for him on his own wont it? If not then i will have to wait a little longer and get a slightly bigger tank. Which I might anyways so I could add some corys and shrimp etc.

Well I was going to have white sand and a coconut hunt for him to hide. the heater going long ways on the tank to heat the whole of the tank up better. and some real plants around fliter and his coconut. Fliter to hide it abit and his hide so he can hide better.

Does this sound alright for him alone?

also if I was getting a bigger tank i would add a couple of pebbles etc.

- Not sure if bettas will go inside coconut caves though, I could be wrong.

Well LFS and some people of here said they are a good natural looking hiding place for them. And LFS use them (To show off for people to buy)In their betta tanks and they seem to enjoy them. I suppose its all to do with thats your personality of your bettas etc.

Thanks and that came useful. But I have a spare one hanging round somewhere so I will use that instead of cutting my fingers and all the rest lol. do you think he will like it then?

Finger cutting is a bother.
They do like having things to play/ hide in, but you might want to make the doorway a little bit bigger and sand it down.

Sounds really good! Some nice tall plants would be good, so your betta can perch near the surface. When Kai had a coconut hut in his tank, he loved it I only took it out because I added some java-moss covered bogwood that is kinda cave-like too.

Dont worry I will do. Its just letting my mother letting me have it. Though I dont see why I cant have it when Im paying for all of it out my own money. and I am slowly giving back the money i owe her. but maybe one day soon... Yes will post pics of it step by step etc.

Turns out I wont be getting a tank with a betta at my house. Instead I will be putting him hopfuly in my boyfriends room... So this should be fun trying to explain this to his dad lol.
