I'd love to put a Riccia carpet in my new tank. I've read the 'how to' thread and seen what other people's experiences have been, and was wondering what the best way to attach the Riccia to slate/mesh would be. The hairnet method seems really effective and looks great, but I have corys and kuhlis, so I'm a bit concerned about them getting tangled. I imagine Riccia can't be superglued, as any new growth will float. Is there another way? Or will I be better off with a moss carpet that I can glue?

Thanks :)

If your worried then go with moss and use fishing line, that way you can take it off and re tie it if needed, glueing isn't so good with carpets as if the bottoms rot at all it will all lift off so the benefits in fishing wireor cotton are great.

If you buy one of those mesh sponge pom-pom type things for washing in the shower with you can cut it apart and end up with lots and lots of fine mesh that your fish won't get stuck in.

if you can find a green one its best.

Just tie it down tight over the riccia and the slate making sure it goes right under and then there's no danger of anything ending up caught in it.

On another note - I found riccia to be a pain in the backside - as it need to be retied every few weeks.

Hmm that's a good idea! I'd read that dwarf Riccia needed retieing every few weeks, but not Riccia fluitans? Think I may go with moss anyway seeing as it's less of a faff. Thanks :) any particular type that's good for a carpet? It's my first one  lol.
