Ribbet

By the 2012 olympics I think andy will have coverted this forum to be frogfish obsessed

How about a few more pics

First up are them all in situ from when I got home from work tonight

They're beautiful Andy!

Can you post a new feeding video? :fun:

Stunning, i love those little monsters

Haha love the video, its like a little hoover, that prawn just vanishes lol

Here's a better vid of showing the belly distend as the fish is swallowed, the vid drags in the middle when the frog decides to just hang onto the fish for a while like a fag hanging out his mouth.

And for anyone interested, a couple of experts on another forum agree with me on the Lophriocharon genus and the current best guess for species is L. trisignatus.

I love these fish! Your collection has made me want to switch to the salty side, just for these cool creatures.

 Haha ok, for some reason it looked just like a prawn (honestly hoccifer)

Cool as!

Stupid question time: Why have a 'fuge for the frogs?

Andy

Becuase in the reef tank they would eat everything (fish and shrimp) except the eel and the betta. And the betta would be on the menu within a year or so as well.

Forgfish commonly eat fish as large as themselves with some consuming prey up to double their size.

WOW that's brilliant. Saw one of these in Maidenhead Aquatics and the way it was resting looked like he was leaning up against the rock chilling out. They're such ugly fish that they are beautiful, like the humpback whale, if that makes sense (it does to me anyway)

Well, I have been taking a few pictures in an attempt to get a photo of a certain body part for someone, and here are some of the "extras":

And here we have a frogfish that seems to have learnt that the food comes from above, and hence sits as close to the surface as possible

I know this picture is pretty awful quality, but it's the first time I've got near to being able to get a shot of a frog "yawning" and showing off their protruding jaws

excellent, still makes me laugh when the Frogs "hoover" up their food :)

I wish i could have a salt water tank!!!!!! But they are too expensive( not to mention the fish prices!). Very Nice!
