Return Pump Strenght ?

hi, I have a 1000 litre setup and my return pump is rated 8000 L/H wich gives me 8x return flow. I have been using this for about 3 months, Was just thinking if its to much and Rather use the 4000L/H i have lying around ? its about 2 metres worh of piping that it has to push water through...

After 2meters of head, any pump will ACTUALLY pump less water than its maximum rating. 2 meters is a lot of head so I'd wager a guess that your 8000LPH pump likely is pushing somewhere between 5-6000LPH. The 4000LPH pump would likely actually push ~3000LPH after that much head loss. These are just guesses by my part. If you can find the pump curve (graph) for the individual pumps you can figure it out for yourself . Go to the appropriate head (2m in this case) and see what the flowrate is at that much head pressure...
