Restocking. Need People's Opinions

Im wanting to change the stock of my tank around slightly and I'm saying goodbye to my YoYo loach, figure 8 puffer and Pearl Lace Gourami at the end of the week

The dimensions of my tank are 2' x 12" x 15".

I'm planning to have a community including a few types of Rams, (Electric, German, Gold), a shoal of Neons/Cardinals (currently have 12 total), a pair of Hongsloi and 4 Discus (Super Red Turk) and finally 4 bettas, 2M & 2F.

The discus are only 1.5" at the moment, do once they reach a sufficient size, they will be moved to a bigger tank.

Does this sound okay to everyone? Or am I mixing too many cichlids/overstocking?

only 1 pair of rams would work in a tank that size. Otherwise you may have some aggression issues among them. Pick whatever color morph suits your fancy, and get 2 of that color morph, and stock around them.

I'd personally not put discus in that tank even if they are young. Or, at least, not more than one or two.

The bettas would also be an issue. You need to keep females in groups of 6 or more to keep any of them from getting singled out in aggression. And you can't have 2 male bettas in a tank unless you're confident that the tank is so big and heavily decorated, they'll never see each other for 5 years (their typical lifespan). That aside, I doubt they'd appreciate the high temperature that both GBR's and discus like.

I'd go something like this:
1 pair german rams
10-12 cardinal tetras
6-8 cory's (I think sterbai (spelling?) will work in the higher temp)
1-2 discus (temporary, and ONLY if it's absolutely necessary.)

I'd stock:
A pair of rams (I prefer bolivians just because they are very hardy but it's your choice)
12 cardinals
6 corys (not sure which would be best)
I also agree that only 1-2 discus could work but only temporarily and and if necessary.)

Another big issue you'd have with stocking young discus in a tank that size is that discus like to be kept in groups of 6 or more. And if you only put 1 or 2 in a tank that size, they might not make it. However, if you put 6 in a tank that size, you'd find the issue of them being quite cramped.

So really, I'm just gonna go out and say it like this: Just don't.

Thanks for the advice guys! Instead of Corys, what would a group of 5 Kuhli loach be like?

The issue is that you're kinda limited in stocking with GBR's, cause they like the temp at 82, and most other fish like it in the mid to high 70's, including khulis.

You can totally steer clear of GBR's for this tank, and go with khulis, and then instead of GBR's you can try bolivian rams, they're tough as nails and full of personality, not nearly as fragile as german rams.

From what I've seen, Bolivian Rams look pretty boring in terms of colour, nothing compared to the usual fish I see on the Internet. I'm looking for some real colour ideally.

P.S. I've only seen one group of Bolivian Rams in person, do that may have just been a bad group of fish, not what I expected them to look like at all.

IMO a 2' long tank is too small for discus...Unless its for juveniles for a short time, but then the problem of the needing to be in a shoal comes into play....

As everybody will sad the rams will need a higher temp, Ive seen a few bolivians and they are very colorful once settled in to a tank.

Doubling the tank size kinda adjusts the fish possibilities slightly lol. Would you say with those fish, the tank would be overstocked?
