hi all well after having a general tank of livebearers the mrs wants to restock our tank and go in a new direction, she is wanting angelfish though im unsure about them id like to ask a few questions

1 how many do i have to keep ie would 4 be ok in a rio 240?

2 other tank mates compatability?which other fish go with these fish?

3could i still keep my glowlight tetras?

4are they a hard fish to keep?

5i have danios glowlights guppies (the guppies are being rehomed)2 sword tails and a sailfin plec which other fish would i have to rehome most definatley

6suggestions please on what you would keep in my tank with angel fish

i know its a fair bit to ask but all help is welcomed id rather get it right than to do it wrong also any other relevant info would be helpful :good:

How many gallons does the tank hold? As long as it holds atleast 30 gallons and has a height of 18" or more then it would be fine for angels.
I would suggest stating out with a bunch (4-6) and seeing how they get along, you will likely end up having to rehome a few as not all angels get along, and some will pair off. Once they have their pecking order established you may wish to keep a pair or two, however be warned that a breeding pair of angels can becoming extremely aggressive when guarding their eggs!
The danios and swords should do ok with the angels however full grown angels can easily eat a small glowlight so make sure you start off with small angels! Guppies might get nipped from the angels. That pleco will reach to about a foot and a half in length so will probably need rehoming enless your tank is very large (like 75+ gallons).
And lastly, no they aren't a very hard fish to keep, they don't really require any special attention, just good food and clean water like any other fish :good:

i think its roughly 50 gallons so i guess i should be ok with the angels tyvm for your information i dont suppose anyone has stocking suggestions for the tank with angels? i fancy something different ?

With the angelfish, you could also go for a group of smaller loaches, a couple of gouramis (like kissing gouramis), and a syno catfish.
