Hey,
I resuced 2 platys ( i have no idea what kind they are) and 2 Black Mollies today. I got them from my Bio teacher. Last year i found out he had left 2 yellow lab cichlids in a 20g with no deocr or anything since march w/o food, filter, or w/c. So this year i saved his fish ( i had given them to him as i had no room at the time, and i got them for free, as they were no borns and i didnt have a seperate tank. Well, he told me he was going to take them home, but i decided to seize them as i didnt know what would happen to them. They were in a tank without a working heater the entire year. But they did have a filter( i told him to buy one a while ago). So, anyways, one of the Mollies is female. And she is pretty skinny ( she has been fed, i feed her everyday at school), and i noticed she has some white patches on her side, and what looks to be pop -eye. So, i put her in a breeder ( so she isnt bullied) and i put in some Quick Cure as its the only medicine i have, and i dont really have money for anytihng else right now, i just dont want her to die. Any idea's of what to do?

Pop eye is an internal bacterial infection, the skinnyness of the fish would also go with this too, so i would advise treating her with an anti internal bacterial med- if she isn't getting bullied by the fish though right now, it would be less stressful for her to be in the tank than to be in the breeding net (the breeding net should only be used if she is getting bullied), however most of the time sick fish are usually left alone by other fish and not bullied  .

Bulging eyes is popeye like tokis has said.
White patches on fish if its fluffy looking can be columnaris.
Being really skin can mean a number of things, has she lost weight due to not being fed so often or not eating.
Being really skinny can be old age, internal parasites, to fish tb.

The thing is, i catn afford any medicines right now. Im doing things with some freinds this week, and im paying my way for a gym i belong to, and thats allt he money i have, and my mom wouldnever let me ditch my freinds ( carnival and a movie) for fish medicine ( plus, i wouldnt be happy either). I could possibly get some meds next monday, as i work again on monday, but other than that, i dont have any options. Any good meds you guys recommend? Wilder, old age is definatley outruled, she is not barley a inch!

hi
good on you for rescuing the fish...how could someone be so cruel to leave a living thing stuck in a tank & not feed it for months????
anyway i have always had really good results with aquarium salt with mollie problems its usually a lot cheaper than many other meds ( has to be aquarium salt though not table stuff) you can combine it with most meds. sorry i dont know what quick cure is for.
good luck

^ Hey. I used to use Aquarium Salt, but i found out my Angelfish arent very Tolerant of it, and i'd rather not kill them off. Quick Cure is for about every external parasite, and i think it also treats cotton mouth disease. Its basically the cheaper version ( or more expensive, cant remeber, bought the bottle a while ago) of CopperSafe. I treated for the second time today. I dont see the white stuff on her anymore, either the Quick Cure is working, or the white stuff was excess Slime Coat fighting off a disease, and it won. Plus, a very good friend at my lfs ( closeing for 6 months, getting a new location) will be having a sale starting Sunday and everything is 25 percent off. Also, she told me that Aquarium Slat would help the Bacterial Infection a little bit, but not dsarastically, and if she cant fight this off on her own, it will ease her pain. I mihgt, might be able to get some meds on monday, but when your 14, money is hard to come buy ( especially with a reccesion ) so, its possible. I do have a job on monday, and im getting 10 dollars, but i have to put 1 dollar in offering, and im probably going to have to pay my mom back for sometihng ( cant remeber what it is, but i know i owe her money). So, do you guys have any idea of what cheap med to use?
