Hi everyone,

Ok, third attempt at a planted aquarium. Some very kind person sent me a lot of cuttings, so this afternoon I replanted my tank. So what do you master planters think? I know it's nowhere near as expert as yours, but hopefully they will grow.

I have,

wendtii
amazon sword
mini amazon sword
ludwigia
and 2 at the back I cannot yet identify.

Fish are,

6 black phantoms
6 cardinals
1 rummynose (will be 6 soon)
6 corries
1 otto (will be 3 if I can get the little buggers to survuve!)
Want 4-6 glass catfish.

Do you mean the red one is Ludwigia? Could be.

The 2 on the far left at the back that are twisted look like they could be a number of plants to me from the distance of the photo. a closer look at the stem should clarify bu they look similar to a Thai Stricta I used to have.

I would still plant up a lot more in there to avoid early algae issues. You are about 20% planted there and could do with getting closer to 60/70%.

Are the small plants at the front Blyxia?

Andy

looks like e tennellus at the front andy mate (but grown out of water).

Nice tank... but is that an airstone?

 yes it's an airstone, getting a smaller one tomorrow!

Didn't know what twisted leaf one was. Red one is ludwigia. Small ones on left are mini sword. Small on in middle, no idea. I have some more background plants coming soon.

Do you plant them closer together then?

What extra algae could there be?

J.

Red ludwigia was bought from ebay as L. glandulosa

Small foreground = sagitaria subulata

Crypt = C. wendtii but not sure which variety, whether it's brown or whatever.

There may be some c. x willisii in there too, as it grew close to the wendtii but you won't know until they start growing as the young wendtii look like young willisii (and the willisii stays small and green, whereas the wendtii will colour up as it grows.

The back ones - short leafed one s Hygrophilia corymbosa whereas the long leafed one is a hygro, but I've never been sure if it was Angustifolia or something like salicifolia. It was my first plant over 2 and a half years ago - nearly indestructible imo. Keep trimming both of these - because of the long leaves on the unidentified Hygro, you'll not notice if the cut stems are really small lol.

Looks good J

Fingers crossed :good:

Thanks again, plants are so expensive and you get such small samples. Hope one day I can pass some on too.
