Here's how the tank 'used' to look

tankold.jpg

Now the scape had a number of issues in my eyes

1) The amazon swords in both corners were wrong for this scape for different reasons the left was to big the right was to hidden. - They have now been removed.

2) The Enchinodorus Tornado XXL was dieing back from a nutrient deficiency - Its been removed and is now floating in the sink till I get my chemicals mixed up

3) The Mattogrosense 'Red' was going leggy as it was having to get above the surrounding plants - It has been removed as is currently in the missus's guppy tank

4) The bogwood with the flame moss on (front left) is being swallowed up by the scape - Its still in the tank for now

5) The 2 pieces of redmoor that look like someones hands catch a cricket ball are being swallowed up by the motherjava fern dramitically reducing the woods impact.

The reason I grew to hate the scape was ma]inly it was to cluttered and once the java fern mother plant grew even more the tank lacks a focal point. I have seen 2 differing tanks that I like

The 1st being

The 2nd being

Im thinking the Dwarf sag at the front of the tank is giving the scape to hard a look at the front so Im open to replacing it.

Tank is 370L

C02 will be FE c02

Wheres my tank in that list? :p

it'd be good to see the size of that peice of wood in relation to your tank...

I'm not a big fan of dawrf sag either tbh, maybe try HC? that'd be nice, with one other smaller grassy foreground plant like in the first tank you shown.

Then you've got that wood, which would look great with moss or even java fern on. Maybe anubias on the bottom of it, but that might be buried..

You've got other plants still to go in the back so that should be nice? the tanks you shown also have the hardscape on show quite a bit, so you need to make sure its tall enough it doesn't get swamped by your background plants.

The Manzanita is approx 45-50% of the tank length and about 80% maybe 85% of the height

The 2 pieces of redmoor I linked are both the height of the tank and approx 25% tank width each so the 3 pieces would cover the whole tank length obviously not solidly but it would give an effect not to disimilar from the 1st pic.

I do like HC but I also wish I knew what the foreground was in the top pic it looks really nice to me. The taller back plants dont necessarily need to go back in that tank they could go in the 240L which has the angels in atm if the scape would look better with the moss covered wood effectively being the back plants I wouldnt mind. I really want this to look like an actual scape v a plantsplosion :good:

the grassy looking stuff in that pic looks like well trimmed Riccia to me.
