Hi

Joined this group to see if anyone can suggest a suitably impressive alternative to a silver arowana

I had a 14" silver arowana in a 5'tank, with a sting ray and a baby fire eel, he was with me for a year until last week despite the lid being weighted I found him on the floor of the living room very much deceased (I'd often seen him jump and hit the lid, but thought he was suficiantly restrained!)

So, should I replace like for like (and get a larger weight for the lid) or can any alternatives be suggested

Thanks for listening

(as I'm a newbie, just to let you know my other fish interest I am also about to set up a tangenyki ciclid tank)

Had discussions with various people, and it was suggested this would be a big enough tank - but absolute minimum size
Like most things in life, I realise bigger would be better!

As the question suggested, I am thinking about an alternative little fishy, but still don't know what else to go for!
(it was a very unfortunate way to find a space in the tank)
Still an absence of suggestions here!

Ideally I'd like a mid/top dwelling, predetary fish growing to a good size, tank 5', 400l with 600lworth of filter units

thanks for looking

David

aros, rays and fire eels all ultimately get way too big for a 400L tank, however to answer your question I would go for a group of Hujeta gars or Apollo sharks
