Right, i'm not a happy bunny! I've got an aqua-one AR850 and was starting to look around for some new bulbs as i've had the tank a year and noticed that the original bulbs are starting to flicker a bit more than usual and I suspect they are on their way out.

After seeing a post by Themuleous I had a look on www.lampspecs.co.uk and realised they didn't stock the sizes I needed. After a bit more looking around the net it seems that the bulbs I will need are a non standard fitting!

The current bulbs are:
2x 25w - 740mm x 26mm
1 x 20w - 580mm x 26mm
Lengths include the metal caps at either end.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get replacement bulbs other than ordering aqua one tubes through my lfs? They don't carry them in stock even though they sell the tanks. :shout:

Thanks

You could try emailing this site they look good and say they can get anything. I have just emailed them to try and track down a micro spiral energy saving bulb in daylight colouring and am waiting on a reply.

Is it the length that is not standard? I.e. the supplied bulbs are shorter than most? If the light fixtures are non-movable, I'm fairly sure the ADA 20w bulbs are slightly smaller than normal. You would need to check (try AE) that but think they are.

The ADA 20w T8 would fit I'm sure, as Sam suggests. Not cheap but I very much expect them to be excellent for growth and colour rendition.

Yes sorry, should have been clearer, it's the length, they are a really odd size.

They're about 23 & 29 inches. Even the ADA ones don't seem the right size :(

That's the last resort I guess, I'll try the lfs first, see if they can get some in.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Hi there, I have aqua one tanks too. And yes, the tubes are a non standard size. Just a wee bit out, and no, its impossible to force the standard tubes to fit! And yes its a pain in the a**. I dont know if this will help but:
Its not just aqua-one that makes these tubes, they are just a non standard size. ive been to a lfs before and they went "ahh, you have the 28.5 inch tubes (or whatever length it was) and gave me s.omthing that fit. So measure it exactly, and see if you can find somewhere that has that size. Also it might help to know that aquaone is the rebranded name: the original manufacturer is called atman. The globes I believe are actually branded atman. I have the box here from a replacement globe I got for my ar620. It says atman on the side, as well as a brand "CHIUANGXING".

Well, hope this helps: stick with it and im sure you will find them! Also remeber: replace the starters when you replace the lights. This can help them last longer, and when its such a pain to get the globes god knows you need all the help you can get. Also if I recall correctly, the ar 850 I saw had 3 globes in it, and the middle one is SMALLER than the two others. Dont forget that bit!

Whilst this is a decent reply, do bear in mind the last reply made to this thread is 8 years ago, a lot of these guys are either not around or have long forgotten about this thread.

But do keep giving advice :)

BTW I use the same site for some tank equipments stuff ;)
