I have about 25 running Aquaclears from the 100 gph to the 300 gph. A number were bought used and one had a similar issue and had been repaired, I assume with super glue gel. It ran fine for a number of years and then began to leak. I chose to replace it rather that try to fix it again. My thinking was that each time one does such a repair it is likely to last for less time. A replacement is about $17 -$18 plus shipping. Considering a complete new one is about $38, it is a saving. The biggest danger we face from such a repaired cracked case is that it starts to leak again when nobody is home.
For me the other parts from a replaced filter become spare parts. And some parts can work on more than one model. For example 4 models all use the same motor, the impellers change as the GPH rate goes up but not the motor. While the U tubes are model specific, the intake tubes that attach to them come in only two sizes, one for the 20, 30 and 50 and another that fits both the 70 and 110.
