I like the look of the tanks, and i thought they had a good reputation, but don't go on that. Are you getting a Rena filter with it? I do remember reading in one thread that they can be a little noisy, especially if you are used to a quieter filter such as an eheim.

Cheers

i have an xp2 on my 55 and its completely silent. its under a stand, but even when i am messing with stuff under there it doesnt make a peep.

Yeah Adam and I both have xp3 and we both love them! If their filters are any reflection of how nice their tanks are then I say go for it!

I`ve seen plenty of them they look great, 70cm of height though would maybe be wasted in an Mbuna tank .

It is a bit but it adds to the water volume so it should add stability to the stats which for me is great as i can be away a couple weeks at a time with my job.

IMO Rena tanks the classic range are the best :good:

70 cm is not a waste of tank if you fill it high, you also will find lots of species that like or prefer to swim on the high side anyhow - fish like Acei are notoriuos for this :)

it would be an excellent tank and i'm extremely jealous of anyone who has one

Very very good tanks but over-priced despite this IMO. As you've got the opportunity to get a 2nd hand one though - sounds good if the price is right. :good:

If you check out ebay you will see that the second hand price is the same as the juwel tanks, I think is because the juwels are so popular and not everyone has heard of the rena tanks so theres a bargin to be had.

I have exactly the RENA tank you are thinking of getting, and I cant fault it in any way. Even the equipment that came with it (XP3 filter, heaters, lights etc) were all excellent quality. Watch the light tubes they supply with it though. Mine came with ones meant for salt water marine, and in my fresh water tropical induced same nasty algae until I realised and swapped over with some Dennerle special plant ones.
The Xp filters are nice and easy to maintain as well as they have the quick prime device after cleaning or changing media. :good:

I've got a Rena Aqualife classic 150 x 50 and it is excellent. We've got 2 XP3 filters running and we added an extra Internal (we've got messy plecs). Never had a problem with the XP3's and was surprised at how quiet they are!

I think the Rena tanks are stunning and very well made so if you can get your hands on a cheap second hand one then definitely go for it. You won't be disappointed. IMO they are much, much better then the Juwel tanks, but I only have a small Juwel so it's a bit difficult to compare.

yeah Ian's big tank is a rena, it's really nice :D
