I have been keeping fish for about 15 years but am new to TFF and this is my first post.
About 7 years ago I bought what I believe is a Rena Panorama 100 aquarium. I have a mix of tropical freshwater fish although am slightly overrun with bristlenose catfish which seem to like the conditions and breed regularly!
I recently returned from work to find that the electricity had tripped and through a process of elimination tracked it down to my aquarium lighting. The lighting is of I bar design with 2 x 25W T8 tubes which are 30" long. When I removed the lighting unit from the aquarium I could here and feel a large amount of water sloshing around inside it. It would appear that the water had built up over some time through condensation but had finally reached a level where a short occurred.
It seems that these units are no longer available so I would seem to have two options available. The first is to dry it out and try to improve the seal and refit it although it's quite possible the problem would return in the future. The second is to replace the lighting completely and the problem there is finding something that will fit. The lid of the aquarium is comprised of three metal sheets so I can't bolt anything to them. Anyone have a similar experience and suggestions?
