I recently bought a second hand aquarium and stand but unfortunately it smells a bit smoky, does anyone know a good way of removing the smoky smell?
The stand is a normal Juwel stand (wood with laminate stuff).
Thanks!

Have you tryed bleach? Its the only thing I can think of that could possibly help with it. Other than that, I'm not realy able to help further.

I'll probably sound completely looney, but I once heard that if you smoke on your lunch break, you can remove the smokey smell by rubbing a dryer sheet all over you (dryer sheets also keep the mosquitoes away if you put one in your pocket or bra, lol). I don't know how well it works, but I know that it does work. Whether it works on furniture is still to be determined, lol

I would put it outside for a few days, just don't let it get wet. This works with clothes, so it might work with the stand, but I'm not sure.

Orange juice (cut an orange into bits and wipe over the wood then wipe off with a cloth) or orange based cleaning products work well. Would be careful about what you use on the actual tank (glass shouldn't hold a smell anyway) but this sould work fine on the stand. I used orange on a table i bought once that stunk of smoke and had a thick layer of tar staining it. Used a couple of oranges and it cleans up really well.
