ive currently got 2 filters running on my 70 gallon tank and want to remove 1 will this do any harm to the bacteria balance in my tank?
my tank was set up with a fluval 4 plus but after a couple of weeks i felt it wasnt up to the job so i set up an external eheim filter. ive left the fluval and eheim running for 3 months now to ensure the new filter is full of good bacteria and now i want to remove the fluval to give more space in the tank. can i just take it straight out???

It should be okay take out the fluval, or alternatively take one sponge out of the fluval and give the eheim time to build up a bigger colony. After a few weeks remove the fluval completely. I am not sure really, chances are that the fluval will have a big bacteria colony. When I went from internal to external on a tank I ran the filters together as you have and then placed the sponges from the internal to the external, taking them out one by one over a few weeks. Hope that makes sense,

Yea, after 3 months the external should be fine, take out the internal , and the external should then grow more as it has the internal share of ammonia to deal with after.
