Hey all

I have a Juwel Rekord 80 aquaurium, therefore it has the black filter box in the rear right corner of the tank.

It seems to be siliconed on or something.

I ordered a tetratec external canister filter (ex600) the other day, which is due next week sometime.

I was just wondering, what is the easiest way to remove the black box from the tank? Water will still be in of course. Leaving it in is not an option as thats where the spray bar and intake will be placed.

Thanks in advance.

Maxta :)

Also another question is, i get alot of dirt on the bottom of my tank - fish poo (mainly the plec), and left over bits of food (crumbs). Will it be best to have the spray bar's water projection pointing down so it disturbs the bottom of the tank? Or just have it normally, facing towards the top of the tank to create surface aggitation?

see here for the first TFF newsletter with an article on this.

Hope that helps!

Thank you. That helps alot.

Now i have to find my flexi stanley knife. Seems easier than i thought.

Why does it recommend you to get a heater guard though? Are juwel heaters different to standard ones?

Thanks again.

Not sure.. didn't notice that bit. I just got an old eheim sucker and ring to stick it to the side. No problems so far.. (heres hoping)

I'm contemplating replacing it with a fully submermisble one though.

A way to get crap off the bottom of your tank it to stick a powerhead to the side of the tank near the bottom so it disturbs the substrate.

I thought the Juwel was full submersible? Although mines clipped onto the Juwel box, only the knob is out of the water.

And nice idea CS.

Perhaps the Knob makes all the difference. I would be interested in others comments here.!

I have a Juwel heater fully submersed its been that way over a year with no problems.
