Setup is about 3 years old now, Quite early on I got some of those marimo moss balls for the tank and they were very happy, some bits of the algae migrated to my bogwood and, at the start I wasn't too bothered. The balls are now in another tank, but the carpet / blanket of moss / algea remains.
I'm a little bit fed up with it now and want to get rid of it, as it looks very untidy, spreading over the gravel / bogwood / filter parts etc.
Now, I know Excel OD is the normal prescription for algae, as I previously used it to cure a problem with hair algae (due to tank position and sunlight) - this is why I removed the original balls from the tank, so they wouldn't die. The Excel treatment worked great for the hair algae, but the Cladophora remained - I can't remember if it was even affected at all.
Does anyone have a guaranteed method for its removal?
By the way, the only plants I have to think about are some Vallis, which can easily be replaced.
