Is it possible to leave a lighting unit with flaps on top of the tank with no bulbs in it? Or will the contacts get corroded and ruined by the moisture? Obviously it will be unplugged.

It's just my aquarays would fit so much better if I removed the t8 bulbs I never have on anyway.

Will ruin the light unit mate, water will get into it and knacker it.

Could try clingfilming the bulb connectors so the water doesnt get in as such?

Same as I was thinking, cover it with plastic and use electricians tape to seal it.
