remember what i said about the 55 gallon tank? well, i got the stand today and will get the tank tommorow, i will cycle right away and hopefully, by next week's thursday, i will have a tank for my clown loaches to go in

i am about to hand feed my clown loach, if they nip me, wil it hurt ? i heard that the bite hard

new question! is it okay to do 10% water changes each day?

since bacteria doubles each day right?

lol your asking many many questions. well heres what i think about the 10% change a day. It would be fine for the cycle but i think for cyv\cles it's 20% but im not sure. After that you can do what ever you want i guess.

hahahaha acually , i just want to make sure since i dont wanna mess this up, it is my first real "big" tank

Are you doing a fishless cycle? If so, you don't need to change the water at all until the end when you are about to get fish.

P.T.

no, i am using my 2 filters from my 10 gallon which the filter is fro 20 ea so that is 40 gallon filter, and 200gph total

so i plan on using that filter for a week on my 55 gallon to cycle it but i don't have anyfilter on my 10 gallon then, so i thought i could do 10% water cahnges everyday to help out the 10ers

Try and keep things simple. If it were me I'd set up the 55 gallon like it was the only tank I had. After a few days add a few fish, maybe six Danios or something.
Just keep an eye on the ammonia and carry out the normal maintnenance.
If you make things too difficult you'll get problems ;)

well good luck on the tank anyway lol

What you could do, is add the filter you are going to use on the 55g to the other tank for a week or so (in addition to your current filter) and keep it on a fairly low setting otherwise you'll probably create a huge current!! then when it's been there for a week or so, trasfer it over to the 55g, add your fish (not a full load) and monitor the levels closely. If all goes to plan, you should have an instant cycle. This is what I've done twice with tanks now, and it worked fine both times (I had a small cycle on one of the tanks, but the levels stayed really low, and I didn't lose any fish). I had the advantage of knowing the new tank was coming over a week in advance though, so by the time I got the tank; the filter was ready to go in!!
Good luck with it!!
BTW Clown Loaches won't hurt you, they are the gentlest fish if and when you get them to hand feed (took me about 4-5 months to get mine to do it!!). They feel really soft, and don't bite at all!! It's the monster cichlids you gotta worry about!!

well, my first fish to my tank will be clown loaches, and they are quite sensitive, so maybe i can put the filters in the new tank plus my new filter on one of my old tanks? i wil be geting tae tank right now :D
