Freshmike - Is that cory that's in your siggy pic a c. trilineatus? It looks just like my 3 new little ones. The guy said they were something else (agassizi sp?) but they look more like trilineatus.

Heh heh, I wouldn't know what kind it is if I weren't told either....but I bought them as julii cories.... :lol:

Maybe they aren't then. :unsure:

In fact, I think I remember reading on planetcatfish that 3-lined are often sold as juliis....

True Julii Corys are rare, most actually being Corydoras trilineatus, or leopardus.

I can't copy and paste from the planetcatfish site (they even have text copy protected) but here's what it says for c. trilineatus:

Probably the most misidentified fish commonly found in acquatic retailers who incorrectly sell it as C. julii. The true C. julii is such a rare import that sheer numbers mean you are unlikely to encounter this Brazilian fish. C. julii is similar to the more spotted forms of C. trilineatus but has no trace of any reticulated color patterning at all and is entirely covered with small, distinct spots

I am still going to call mine julii cories anyway.....for pretty obvious reasons....

Thanks for the info though, I never would have known. *wipes any memory of the blasphemis smarty pants that tried to call my julii's something else from mind* :lol:
