Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions on when to release guppy fry into the main tank? How many weeks after they are born? I released two as a test because they were getting bigger and I wanted to see what would happen. Just a question if anyone has any ideas! Thanks.

Usually when they can't fit in the mouth of another fish, 6 to 8 weeks.

Like Wilder said, after they can't fit in the mouths of other fish. You might want to wait a little longer after that, though, so they don't get bullied around. :)

I released mine at 2 months old and they all survived. I was worried because I have a 2.5 inch swordtail with a big mouth in my tank.

I'd think to do it when there is no doubt that they won't get eaten, and are big enough to hold their own.

i worried about this for ages with mine, and went up the LFS to ask them. they showed me a tank full of guppies for sale, and there were loads of babies in there surviving finem and they were half the size of mine!

they told me to go home and release mine (2 months old) and i'd see what would happen.

sure enough when i released them, they all stuck together in little shoals and were so fast! no-one could catch them!

i released a test baby into my tank and he is doin fine so ill see what happens in a week or so and then probably release the rest. they are goin on 6 weeks old
