Okay guys, I am thinking my fish tank has become an obsession! What started out as charity for deformed goldfish I felt badly for has become 5 tanks, a pond, water garden, and a couple Betta bowls...

I have since been breeding guppies, Mollies, Bettas, Corydoras and started all kinds of live food colonies (fairy and seed shrimp, daphnia, and recently Scuds) it's funny how these thugs happen.

I was thinking of a reef tank and looking into Seahorses or Mandarins and discovered "refugiums" as a means of both enhancing filtration and culturing live food. I am curious if anyone has set up something like that with Freshwater aquariums? And if so what kind of setups were involved.

Specifically I was thinking of doing a hang on the back external kind, and using them to house some daphnia, scuds, and aquaplants... Has anyone tried this kind of thing before? It seems like such simple solution.
