I posted on the (incorrect!) general forum earlier regarding my angel fish

Basically I bought 6 young angels in the hope of getting a pair

I think we now might have a pair, so I'm preparing to take out the other 4 angels...

So, I'm wondering:

1) When I can be confident enough that yes I've got a pair, and remove the others

2) If I should add anything else to the tank to make up the 'shortfall' ?

its a 100 Litre tank and currently has:

1 Geophagus steindachneri
6 Angel Fish
2 Small Siamese flying foxes
4 corydoras

Thanks

Well with that Geophagus steindachneri in there, your tank is pretty much stocked. Also if the angels breed, there will be a fair amount of fighting between the pair and eartheater. If the eartheater was'nt in there I would suggest some type of small schooling fish, but if you plan on breeding the angels in the future you should just have the pair in there. Some schoolers that would be good for the tank would be zebra danios, tiger or cherry barbs, or some type of medium sized tetra

Hi Ripley

Thats quite an insightful response - I removed the 4 angels, and the pair spawned yesterday. The eartheater soon saw what was happening and ate ALL of the eggs. He also seems to bully them now that there is only two left. I am now looking for a new home for him, although I'm sad to see him go

The tank looks pretty empty and will look even more barren when the redhump goes. I know the angels will grow eventually, but thats going to take a while

I have looked at various tankmates and still can't decide - whatever I get, it needs not to eat the angel eggs. I'd read that barbs tend to nip angelfish fins ?

I do have a pair of kribensis, how would they fare ? will they stick to the bottom level or are they likely to bother the angels?

Failing that would some kind of shrimp be suitable maybe ?

Hi, I have my Angel Pair in a tank of their own> been told that Plecos can get the eggs so removed him recently.
Only way to be certain is to have just the pair> be a bit bare but the eggs/fry have a better survival chance.

Could you put a divider in to allow you to get other fish??

+Not sure about a Shrimp> may be a problem> Angels will prob. go for it when protecting their young.

(P.s; Have you ever drank Baileys from a shoe' 'I'm Old Gregg- I got a Man-gina!') :good:

:hyper: LOL !!! ever been to a club where people wee on each other? do you want to ? !

I might invest my energy into heavily planting it instead, get some of those funky riccia carpets maybe.

Will the angels spawn again soon? They seem pretty upset about what happened yesterday

The Angels will probably spawn again in a few weeks> the Kribs may get damaged!

What colour are the Angels by the way?

(To the Spirit of Jazz- 'Do you know your hat's on Fire??' 'No, why didn't you tell me?' - 'Oh, I thought it was part of the act!')

Off to dig out the DVD's...

Its a tricky one ...

They are both silver, the female has black stripes and the male has black 'blobs' of colour - I'll be interested to see what the babies look like

2nd series and the live show are the best boosh - why you no like my pie!? It is a goood pie

Nice One> Mine are Pearscale Goldens (see Avatar) and have a Silver/ a Koi in Community main tank.

It may take a few turns until the fry are raised with success....
