Can any one help on how i can get rid of this mould ??
many thanks

this is just an idea but maybe you could boil it to try and get rid of the mould stuff might work might not just an idea.

Its something that occurs with redmoor apparently, I was advised this when I got mine, you will need to periodically scrub it until the mouldy stuff stops coming back, its nothing to worry about and wont effect your fish.

It will go away on its own eventually. Just something that some wood does when it's first submerged.

i believe its just a coating of bacteria that develops on the bogwood when it is first submerged, it is totally harmless and as said above disappears within a few days if left

Thanks for all your replys. Will leave it for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

you only had to soak yours for a week for it to sink? i have had mine in soak for almost 2 weeks now didnt get the mould but it still floats!

get a pair of old tights from your wife/gf/sister/mother. Cut a leg off, fill it with gravel or sand, tie up the end and put it on your redmoor to weight it down. Mine took 2 months to finally sink enough for me to take the tights off! It's a big piece of wood though.

Make sure you sink it, put a rock on it or something, because if it is floating then it is still in contact with the air and therefore it will take alightly longer.

ive got a weight on top of it and have been changing water for hot water as well its not a massive piece but its quite large
