Hey....thought of another question, so please forgive the multiple posts. Are there any other reddish plants, aside from crypts and tiger lotus, that are fairly easy for a beginner to maintain. I just feel that I need a third patch of red in my tank. keep in mind that I also have plant nipping fish, so the ones that I have tried (ludwigia and rotanda(?) end up with leaves floating everywhere.

Waz going to suggest Ludwigia, but since you've already tried...... These must be fierce plant nipping fish, as Ludwigia should withstand the worst of 'em.??

Well what you can have also depends on the light and weather you are adding Co2. What are those parameters?

I would love to see a picture of your tank.

there are hygrophillia species but these may get nipped aswell as they are not that strong. Quite a few stem plants go red under high liighting.

There is echindorous barthii - http://www.plantsalive.co.uk/index.php?_a=...p;productId=476
^^^^^^^^^^^^

Perhaps the ludwigia failed because I was at such low lighitng. I had CO2, but now I have 2 watts plus per gallon and use ferts. I may have been wrong about the nippers. I was also given to me in such a messy mass, and I just kept the plant weight wrapped around the stems and dug in it. Maybe I'll give it another go. I loved the way it looked at first.

Boht plants look perfect. I worry about how the former would hold up, and the latterm well, how big does that get, I don't necessarily need a short plant, but there is not much more space to be taken up...

Why don't you have co2 anymore? So many people have great plant growth with it no matter how low the light is.

Oh, I have Co2, it's just that it's a fermentation kit for up to 40 gallons, when I have 55. It's slightly less than adequate, but I only run it during the day and change it every few weeks as opposed to every month.
